About Jennifer

I was born in St. Paul, grew up in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and attended the U of M where I met my husband.  My professional career led me to work in radio, where I have been an account manager for various radio stations in the metro.  This is a fast-paced industry, and it has been a wonderful joy, where I have learned countless skills and made many life-long friends.

I grew up loving just about every sport (except golf), violin (trained in classical violin), all genres of music, and of course, the Minnesota Vikings.

I have three children:  Emma-12th grade at SAHS, Kate-10th grade at SAHS, and Collin-6th grade at Oak Park Elementary.

My kids have been involved in almost every aspect of the district, from our many wonderful years in ECFE, to VAA sports, traveling sports, and music.  All three of my children are involved in the orchestra program (two violinists and a cellist).

I have been an active volunteer and advocate at Lake Elmo Elementary, as well as being involved in issues and projects that have had a district-wide impact.  I believe we do our best work when we collaborate, work as a team, and never lose sight of the big picture.

Some of the past school-related projects in which I'm most proud:

  • Led efforts to bring school district, City of Lake Elmo, Washington County, and MnDot officials together to address traffic safety issues at Lake Elmo Elementary.  The result was a new parking lot and drop-off area and flashing lights to alert traffic of the school zone. Parents are now able to safely pick up their kids at school.
  • Worked with Lake Elmo City officials to advocate for a safe crosswalk across Highway 5 in Lake Elmo so kids can safely walk to the library and park.
  • Connected city and school officials so they could work together on a dual project to rebuild tennis courts at OakLand Junior High.  These courts are now being used by OakLand Jr. High tennis, SAHS tennis, and residents throughout our community.
  • As a mother of a child with asthma, I wrote a grant which resulted in equipment for nebulizers in each school in the district.
  • As a proud PTA mom, I helped start Spirit Night at Lake Elmo Elementary: a free event for kids and their families to get ready for the Homecoming Football game.
  • As a previous Chair of Beyond the Yellow Ribbon/Lake Elmo, I care deeply about our military families.  It has been my honor to give back to our veterans, and in particular, the families of deployed soldiers.

Current district-related projects:

  • Member of the Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC)
  • Member of the 9-12 Transition Team at SAHS.  This team is charged with creating a social and academic framework of inclusion for students entering 9th grade, and throughout their years at SAHS.
  • Co-Chair of the Rummage Sale for the music department at SAHS.

In summation, I am a strong advocate of giving back to the community and I work to teach this value to my children each and every day. I believe in teaching through action, not words.
